AMRITSAR: On the Second Day of Bhai Vir Singh Flower and Plants Festival organized by Guru Nanak Dev University, there was heavy rush of flower lovers and students to visit this mega event. This exhibition was organized with the inspiration of Vice- Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu to associate students with nature and to promote floriculture and plantation in the society. This will be concluded on December 16.
Today, this Exhibition was formally inaugurated by Professor S.S. Behl, Dean Academic Affairs of the University. Incharge of the Festival, Mr. Gurwinder Singh, Landscape Officer and Dr. Sunaina, Assistant Professor, Agriculture Department, Dr. Jaswinder Singh Bilga, Advisor Horticulture, faculty members and a large number of flower and plant lovers & students were present.
Prof. Behl said that this festival is a gift to the society which is dedicated to 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhai Vir Singh, father of modern Punjabi Literature, an eminent literary personality and environmentalist. The objective of this exhibition was to attract youth towards nature.
Apart from flower lovers, a large number of competitors are participating in various events relating to flowers, ornamental plants along with cacti and succulent plants including Rongoli.
