CHANDIGARH: Sainik Schools Society has invited applications from the students, for entrance test, desirous of taking admission in all 31 Sainik Schools in class VI and IX for the academic session 2020-21.
According to an official Spokesperson of the Defence Services, the admission of boys (and girls in the case of Sainik School Chhingchhip) in these schools for both classes was made on the basis of entrance examination, which would be held on January 5, 2020.
The children in order to be eligible to take the exam for admission to class VI and IX should be between the age of 10 to 12 years and 13 to 15 years on 31st March, 2020 respectively. Candidates could register online between August 05-September 23, 2019 and the online application form was available on the website sainikschooladmission.in.
At present, there were 31 Sainik Schools one each in 24 States (except in Telangana, Meghalaya, Goa, Tripura and Sikkim) and two each in Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh). In these schools, 15% and 7½% seats were reserved for admission of children belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes respectively.
Out of the remaining, 67% of the seats would be reserved for children from the state in which the Sainik School is located. Balance 33% left over of seats would be thrown open to children from other states and Union Territories in the ratio of their male population any unutilized seats in this category would be merged with home states seats in order to merit. 25% seats were also reserved for the children of service personnel including ex-servicemen.
