CHANDIGARH: Dr. Areet Kaur, PCMS-I, MD Ophthalmology, here today assumed the charge of new Director Health Services, Punjab. She was previously posted as Director Family Welfare in addition to the post of Director National Health Mission, Punjab.
Dr Areet has a vast experience at hand in her career spanning more than 30 years since she joined the PCMS in the year 1990 as Eye Specialist at District Hospital Fatehgarh Sahib.
Thereafter, she remained posted in different hospitals of Punjab state. In year 2014 she got promoted as Senior Medical Officer and got posted at Sub Divisional Hospital Anandpur Sahib (District Roopnagar). During her stint as as Assistant Director at State Headquarter, she looked after many key assignments including National Programme for Control of Blindness and Health & Wellness Programme. It is pertinent to mention that Punjab State bagged National award for best performance in these programmes.
Later in year 2021 she got promoted as Deputy Director and was posted as Director National Health Mission, Punjab.
While listing out her priorities as DHS she reiterated quality services at doorsteps of people, prompt disposal of matters relating to public, uplifting the level of health care facilities in the state. She also stressed upon strengthening the Primary and Secondary Health Care system as manifested by the State Government in time bound manner.
