CHANDIGARH : Health Department, Chandigarh administration has started a sub national certification (SNC) here on Wednesday towards TB mukt Bharat. under the guidance of Mr Dharampal advisor to the administrator, Chandigarh and Mr Yashpal Garg, Secretary Heath. Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health and Family Welfare, Chandigarh flagged off the survey teams.
These teams will visit both urban and rural areas and the survey will start from ward number 11 (sector 18 , 19 and 21), Ward no.- 8 (Maulijagran, Raipur Kalan, Makhan Majra and Raipur Khurd), Ward no. -5 (Sarangpur, Rehabilitation Colony Dhanas), Ward
no.- 20 (Hallomajra and Behlana), Ward no. - 25 (Sector 37 and 38). Five teams have been formed in Chandigarh that will visit these areas and they will target to cover either five per cent of the entire population of Chandigarh or a total of 10000
households. These teams will visit each household in the areas, complete the survey and do an on-spot sample collection of those found eligible. These samples will be tested at the designated TB testing centres free of cost and reports will be communicated to the person whose sample was taken.
Dr Rajesh Kumar Rana, State TB Officer informed that Central TB Division, New Delhi has started this activity all over India. This is an activity being done in conjunction with Government of India’s target of TB elimination by 2025. The UT has applied for Bronze
award this year which refers to a decrease in TB incidence by more than 20 per cent as compared to 2015 baseline. The survey data and other records of the National TB Elimination Program, UT Chandigarh will be checked and a complete report will be generated. If the UT completes all criteria, it will be awarded the Bronze medal on World TB Day in March 2023.
