A written complaint has been lodged by the SGPC with the Election Commissioner of Punjab. In view of the Punjab elections, the Congress has committed this heinous act, which has caused a great deal of resentment among the Sikh community. Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the SGPC, termed the move of the Congress as tampering with Sikh sentiments and said that these words of Sikh prayers were ingrained in the hearts of every Sikh while the Congress had hurt Sikh sentiments by changing them. Advocate Dhami said that the misuse of Sikh terminology by the Congress party has created a huge outcry in the Sikh community and the Shiromani Akali Dal, the representative religious body of the Sikhs, has been receiving objections from the Sangat. He said that the SGPC had sent a complaint to the Punjab Election Commissioner urging him to take stern notice of this move of the Congress and withdraw it immediately. He said that the Election Commissioner has also been asked to remove the hoarding boards erected by the Congress in this regard and take action for public apology.
