AMRITSAR: Rahul Gandhi is set to begin his mega Punjab Assembly poll campaign on Thursday, January 27.

The Congress has planned a show of strength with an eye to woo Sikh, Hindu and Dalit communities in Punjab when party leader Rahul Gandhi visits the state on January 27 for the election campaign. Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Golden Temple, Durgiana Mandir and Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal in Amritsar on Thursday.

In Jalandhar, Rahul Gandhi will address a virtual rally called Punjab Fateh. It will be the first election rally by Rahul Gandhi in Punjab after the Election Commission announced the poll schedule earlier this month.
The Congress sources said the idea behind the show of strength during Rahul Gandhi's visit with all 117 candidates was to send a message that the party's Punjab unit was united and "all is well".
Navjot Singh Sidhu tweeted, “Our visionary leader Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Punjab on January 27. Every Congress worker looks forward to welcoming him in Punjab.

In a show of strength and piety, Rahul is scheduled to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, along with all 117 poll candidates, on Thursday.
