CHANDIGARH: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today announced that Congress party would announce its candidate for Chief Minister's post before the assembly elections to be held on February 20.
Addressinga virtual rally at Jalandhar, Rahul Gandhi said that PPCC president Navjot Sidhu and Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi had spoken to him on this issue and demanded to declare face for CM post. He said that he would consult the party workers and make an announcement soon.
While addressing the virtual rally, Sidhu requested Gandhi to announce the name of CM candidate because people wanted to know who will deliver the promises. He requested Rahul Gandhi not to make him showpiece and give him power to deliver.
Channi who also spoke said that party must declare CM face. He said that he would support the leader who is seelcted by high command. He said that aim was to win elections and he has no personal preference to become CM.
