Vigilance nabs eleven officials in ten bribery cases during March

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing crusade against corruption, has been able to nab 11 officials red handed while accepting bribes in 10 different trap cases during the month of March, which includes three each police personnel and revenue employees besides five officials from other departments.

Disclosing this here on Tuesday, Chief Director-cum-ADGP vigilance bureau Punjab B.K. Uppal said the VB has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere during the period. In this direction, the vigilance officers have ensured that suspect did not escape judicial punishment in the various courts in the State, he added.

He said the Bureau has submitted challans pertaining to 4 vigilance cases in various special courts in the last month. Apart from this, 15 vigilance enquires (VEs) have also been registered to thoroughly probe the corruption cases against public servants.

Giving more details, he informed that bureau has registered 2 vigilance cases on the basis of VEs and filed one disproportionate assets case for amassing wealth more than the known sources of income.
