Police investigating the links of Zeeshan Akhtar and Gurmel
KAITHAL: Mumbai Crime Branch officials reached here to talk to Gurmel's friends to find links to the murder of Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai. The Crime Branch team is also looking for two youths who were the link between the relationship between Zeeshan Akhtar and Gurmel. The team of Mumbai Crime Branch had quietly reached Kaithal late Thursday evening. Apart from top police officials, no one has any information about their arrival.
According to police sources, both the teams included 15 members including two inspectors. Who have interrogated more than three youth so far. In this, two youth accused are from Gurmel village, whose names are said to be Shiv Kumar and Arun. Apart from this, a city resident youth Deepak was also called for questioning. The teams are collecting information from them by taking links of Gurmel and Jasheen Akhtar so that the absconding accused Jasheen can be caught soon. According to the information, accused Jasheen Akhtar was targeting the youth of Kaithal to create sleep cells for gangsters, who used to come here often. About a dozen youth of the district were in contact with him. Most of them were those who had criminal records. Many cases are registered against Jasheen Akhtar in Punjab. Punjab Police was searching for him, to escape from which he used to escape to Kaithal. During this period, he lived comfortably at many places in the district. Even the police and intelligence department had no idea about it.
After coming out of jail, Zeeshan used to prepare sleeper cells for the friends found inside.
Jashin Akhtar, Gurmel's accomplice in the murder case, remained in Kaithal jail for about 15 months. Two cases are registered against him in Kalayat police station for supplying weapons to shooters. Kaithal CIA had brought him on protection warrant from Kapurthala jail of Punjab on 21 August 2022 in the case of firing on a businessman of Kalayat. Who stayed in the special cell (mill) of the jail for about 15 months with Gurmel, the accused in the Siddiqui murder case. It was here that both of them became good friends. Apart from this, he had also made friends with other youths in jail, so that after going out, he could prepare sleeper cells of Lawrence Bishnoi for them.

After coming out of jail, accused Jashin Akhtar spent about one and a half months absconding in Kaithal before the murder. He stayed in a hotel and private institution in the city in August and September. He also spent a few days in Harsaula village of Kalayat so that the police could not know his location. He had shown big dreams to all the friends with whom he stayed, who himself was fond of luxury. According to sources, the accused used to travel in an expensive car, wear expensive clothes and also keep an expensive phone, so that the youth could be influenced.
