SHAHKOT: The Shahkot police have arrested a proclaimed (PO) travel agent for duping a Shahkot village resident of Rs.1.80 lakh on the pretext of sending his son abroad.
The investigating officer (IO) and Talwandi Sanghera police post in-charge Salindar Singh said that the accused has been identified as Niraj Aattar a resident of New Ajad Nagar, Bahadarke road, Ludhiana.
Investigating officer said that Sohan Singh a resident of Donewal village had complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP ) that he had paid Rs 1.80 lakh to the accused for facilitating his son’s migration abroad but he was not sent abroad nor returned the money .
IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating)of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Travel Profession Regulation Act was registered against the accused who was declared proclaimed offender by a Nakodar court on March 31 2021 .
