PHAGWARA: The Lohian Khas police have arrested four gangsters on the charges of attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy, and firing.
Investigating Officer (IO) Avtar Singh said that the accused have been identified as Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggi a resident of Ladharran village under Nakodar Sadar police station, Gurjit Singh a resident of Beetal Jhugian village under Mehat Pur police station and Harpreet Singh alias Happy and Gurpreet Singh alias Baba residents of Mohalla Shadi Khan Mehat Pur town.
Kashmir Kaur wife of Balwinder Singh a resident of Pipalli village had complained to the police that the accused and their scores of accomplices barged into her house on August 3 late evening armed with firearms and sharp-edged weapons and started beating her husband and injuring him seriously adding that two accused barged into the kitchen assaulted her and demanded documents of their land at a pistol point.
The complainant had said when she rejected the demand of giving land documents the accused tore her shirt and barged into her daughter’s room ransacked the TV, AC, and other goods, and stole Rs 1 lakh cash, 6 grams of golden jewelry, and land documents from the locker of the almirah, and a tractor and motorcycle and ransacked the house and threatened them with dire consequences adding that the accused fled away on four vehicles and 50 two-wheelers.
IO said the attack was orchestrated by two NRI brothers, Dara Singh and Darbara Singh, both residents of Talwandi Butiyan village under Shahkot police station and currently residing in England. The brothers hired local gangster Amandeep Singh Amna to carry out the attack, with the motive of forcibly occupying approximately 10.5 acres of land.
Avtar Singh said an advance payment of ₹2 lakh was made to the hired assailants, with a total promised sum of ₹3 lakhs,
IO said a case under sections 109(attempt to murder), 333(house trespass ), 115(2), and 118(1) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt )1324(4) (mischief ).309(robbery ), 61(2)(criminal conspiracy 351(2)(criminal intimidation ), 191(1) (rioting ) .190(every member of unlawful assembly ) of the B.N.S .and sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered against the accused and three accused were arrested earlier and raids are being conducted to nab absconding accused.
