CHANDIGARH: UT police registered a cheating case against a woman and her family members for allegedly duping hundreds of residents of Kajehri village, Sector 53 of around Rs 7 to 8 crores. The accused promised high returns on investments made in a monthly kitty scheme but subsequently disappeared with the money.
Village residents alleged that the accused, Rajwanti, cheated around 300 persons of Rs 7 to 8 crores, After collecting the money form people, Rajwanti and her family , including her son, daughter-in-law, and daughter, fled from the village.
In their police complaint, victims, including, Pinky, Reena Devi, Gyan Singh, Narendra, Vikas Kumar and others reported that 52-year-old Rajwanti and been living in Kajheri for the past 20 to 25 years. She collected money from people promising high returns on investments.
