Kapurthala Police Launches Crackdown on Street Crime, Apprehends 11 Thieves in a Week

PHAGWARA: In a major crackdown on street crime, the Kapurthala Police, headed by Senior Superintendent of the Police Gaurav Toora, has launched a rigorous campaign to curb thefts and other criminal activities across the district. While giving the details SSP Toora told This Correspondent here on Thursday that over the past week, the police successfully busted multiple theft rackets, arresting 11 suspects and taking decisive steps to dismantle organized street crime networks.

He told that the district police have initiated Red Alert Operations and Night Domination Operations, focusing on preventive policing and intensive surveillance. A total of 234 suspicious individuals were checked, and legal action was taken against 29 of them for their involvement in criminal activities. Additionally, 37 suspicious vehicles were seized as part of the ongoing drive.

SSP Toora said that the police have confiscated several stolen and illegal items during the operations, including: 1 .32 bore pistol, 1 datar (sharp-edged weapon), 2 fake pistols, 13 motorcycles, 11 mobile phones from the arrested criminals.
SSP Gaurav Toora emphasized the importance of community collaboration in combating crime, urging citizens to actively cooperate with the police and report any suspicious activities. “We are committed to taking strict action against anti-social elements to ensure a safer environment for the people of Punjab, ” said SSP Toora.

He reiterated the police department’s commitment to making Punjab a crime-free and drug-free state and appealed for actionable inputs from the public to strengthen the fight against criminal networks.

SSP Toora said the Kapurthala Police’s proactive measures have included regular nakabandis, night patrolling, and intensive checking of both individuals and vehicles. These efforts are part of a larger strategy to instil public confidence and deter criminal activities in the district.

The recent successes underline the Kapurthala Police’s determination to maintain law and order and deliver on their promise of a safer community.
