RBU holds a health camp at Marauli Kalan, Radiala in Mohali district

MOHALI: Rayat Bahra University organized a free healthcare camp at Marauli Kalan and Radiala village . The camp was organized under the guidance of Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice- Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University.

The team of experts from Rayat Bahra Dental Hospital, Rayat Bahra Nursing College, Physiotherapy and Life Sciences department attended to patients at the camp.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, said that the university has been collaborating with various organizations to provide free services for the society. The healthcare camp included free health assessment of body temperature, blood sugar measurement, blood pressure measurement, oxygen saturation. Most people were suffering from high blood pressure and low glucose level. They were guided accordingly by the doctors.

A special counselling session by Dr Simerjit Kaur for elderly people was held for their psychological counselling to live happily at old age and shared life skills.

Sarpanch Tarlochan Singh, Darshan Singh, Panch along with other panchayat members appreciated the efforts put by Rayat BahraUniversity for organizing free health check-up camp.

A team of the university also organized a free speech and hearing assessment camp in collaboration with National Rehabilitation Institute (NRI), Chandigarh at Radiala village in this district.

Dr Saraswati Gupta, Executive Director, NRI along with her team conducted hearing assessment tests of the patients who visited the camp. People with more than 50 percent disability and falling in the category of below poverty line will be given free hearing aids by the society.

Jasveer Singh, Sarpanch of Radiala Village made the arrangements for the camp at the village gurdwara.

Meanwhile, On the Eve of Teacher’s Day (Particularly Special Education Teachers) , Rayat Bahra University, Mohali organized a free speech and hearing assessment camp at Amritsar Pingalwara in association with National Rehabilitation Institute wherein experts from Chandigarh (NRI) Dr. Dharam Vir, Assistant Professor, Speech and Hearing, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Dr Saraswati Gupta, Executive Director, NRI. Rayat Bahra University honoured Dr. Inderjit Kaur with Life time achievement for her social services. Principal, Sunita Nayyar of Bhagat Puran Singh deaf school and Director, Rajinder Pal Singh and other teachers (special education) of the school were also honored for their services.

At the camp 50 children were assessed and hearing aids will be provided to the needy on December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Rayat Bahra University, the camp was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Neena Mehta, Dean Academic Affairs.
