CHANDIGARH: Continuing its efforts to promote and develop integration of education, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad has opened its doors to foreign national students. Taking a unique initative to serve international students, University has invited online applications for the admissions under Foreign National Category to its various undergraduate and postgraduate courses upto September 15, 2020 for the academic year 2020-21.
Sharing more details, an official spokesperson said that Vice Chancellor Professor Dinesh Kumar today released the prospectus and admission schedule for foreign students for the academic session 2020-21.
He said that it is the priority of the University to make its presence felt globally by opening new avenues of association built on academic, scientific and cultural cooperation. The University is taking new initiatives to collaborate with international academic institutions for the mutual exchange of students, faculty, ideas and research, he added.
He said that as many as 15 percent seats in Engineering Courses and 5 percent seats in non-engineering courses has been reserved for foreign students. Apart from this, separate hostel facilities are also provided for international students.
Spokesperson said that the University has got permission from competent statutory bodies to offer various courses in science, engineering, journalism and management. The eligible students desirous of seeking admission under Foreign Category for various courses mentioned in prospectus for foreign students for the session 2020-2 may apply online by September 15, 2020. While detailing about the eligibility for admission under Foreign Category, he said that the candidates holding valid passport and citizenship of a country other than India or having OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) /PIO (Person of Indian Origin) Card and Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries are eligible for admission under Foreign Category. Further, he has made it clear that Non-resident Indian (NRI) or Indian Citizen whose qualifying examination is from an International Board or Foreign University are not eligible under the Category as per AICTE guidelines.
All foreign national candidates who receive a provisional admission offer letter to any programme in the University would have to obtain a valid Student Visa or Research Visa and bring all original documents to complete the admission process, without which no admission would be granted. The admission of foreign students will be made on merit basis of the qualifying examination and there will be no entrance examination, he added.
