AMRITSAR: The Inter-Zonal Final Youth Festival of Guru Nanak Dev University was inaugurated here today in the Dasmesh Auditorium of the University. The festival kicked off with the energetic and vibrant beats of Bhangra.
Prof. Palwinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs was the chief guest on this occasion and inaugurated the festival by lighting the lamps symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and creativity in the presence of Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean Student’s Welfare and Dr. Amandeep Singh, Incharge, Youth Welfare Department and other officials.
Dr. Amandeep Singh said that this festival is not only a celebration of the arts but a significant platform for students from various colleges affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University to showcase their remarkable talents and creativity. Over the next three days, he said that, we will witness a vibrant array of performances that span various disciplines, including music, dance, theater, and visual arts. This event serves as a testament to the hard work and dedication that each participant has invested in honing their skills. It is a unique opportunity for students to express themselves, to learn from one another, and to foster connections that transcend boundaries, he added.
Dr. Amandeep Singh said that on Day 1 – November 8, 2024 in the Dashmesh Auditorium, Bhangra, Classical Dance, and Folk Orchestra competitions were organized. The Golden Jubilee Convention Centre hosted the Group Shabad Bhajan, Group Song, Geet/Gazal and Folk Song competitions. On the Architecture Department stage, Painting on the Spot, Cartooning, Collage, Clay Modeling, On the Spot Photography & Installation were held and while the Conference Hall hosted Quiz Preliminary & Final competitions.
Day 2 November 9 continues the festival with an extensive lineup of performances. At the Dashmesh Auditorium, the audience can enjoy the Costume Parade, Mime, Skit, Mimicry and One Act Play. Simultaneously, the Golden Jubilee Convention Centre will host engaging acts including Classical Vocal, Classical Inst. (P), Classical Inst. (N.P), Kawsihri, Vaar Singing performances. The Architecture Department will spotlight Rangoli, Phulkari, Mehandi and Poster Making while the in Conference Hall will be buzzing with creative competitions like Poetical Symposium, Elocution and Debate.
On November 10 at the Dashmesh Auditorium, attendees will be treated to Gidha, showcasing folk dance, along with Group Dance. The Golden Jubilee Convention Centre will feature and Western Vocal Solo, Western Group Song and Western Instrumental Solo performances. The prize distribution function will be held in the Dasmesh Auditorium.
