DLSA Conducts Awareness Seminar at Punjab School of Law, Punjabi University, Patiala to Celebrate “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”

PATIALA:In continuation of PAN India Awareness and Outreach Programme issued by NALSA from October 2 to November 14, 2021, as part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, a Seminar/Legal Awareness programme was organized in Punjab School of Law Punjabi University, Patiala by District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, today.
On this occasion, Dr. Varinder Kaushik, Head of Punjab School of Law, Punjabi University, Patiala welcome Sh. Rajinder Aggarwal, District & Sessions Judge, Patiala alongwith other Judicial Officers, Professors, staff and student of Punjab School of Law and threw light on this campaign. They were also made aware of Legal Services week from 8th November to 14th November, 2021 as a part of this campaign.
During the programme, the law students were made aware about PAN India Awareness and Outreach Programme and 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' by Sh. Rajinder Aggarwal, ;District and Sessions Judge, Patiala. They were also made aware about the categories of persons who are entitled for Free legal Services under section 12 of Legal Services Authority Act, 1987, mode of legal services and how can legal services can be availed. Apart from this, they were made aware about the main provisions of Legal Aid System in India and main provisions of Legal Services Authority Act 1987 by Sh. Rajinder Aggarwal, District and Sessions Judge, Patiala.
They were also made aware about NALSA and PULSA Victim Compensation Schemes and NALSA(Legal Services to the victims of Acid Attack) Scheme by Ms Parminder Kaur, CJM/Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala. Apart from this, they were made aware about Free Legal Aid, Permanent Lok Adalat(PUS), advantages of mediation and lok adalats.
Prominent among present on the occasion, included Sh. Ranjit Kumar Jain, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Patiala, Sh. Amit Malhan, CJM, Professor Dr. Ashok Kumar Tewari, Dean Research Punjabi University Patiala and Dr. Yashwinder kaur, Professor Punjab School of Law, Professors, staff and students.
