Ambassador of the Czech republic and Directorate of Higher Education Punjab hold bilateral discussions

AMRITSAR: Her Excellency, Dr. Eliska Zigova, Ambassador of the Czech Republic and Mrs Amrit singh IAS, hold bilateral discussions to explore the possibilities of collaboration between the department of higher education Punjab and Czech republic during her visit at Khalsa college Amritsar . Both of them discussed about the Collaboration with Czech Universities, Student Exchange, Skill Development and other allied subjects.

A delegation led by Dr . Eliska Zigova Ambassador of the Czech Republic in a three days visit to Punjab from 8th July to 10th July, 2024. Today the delegation reached Khalsa college Amritsar where warm welcome was accorded to the delegation by the team of Directorate of Higher Education lead by Smt Amrit Singh and officials of the Khalsa College Amritsar. The Hon. Secretary of the Khalsa College Governing Council Rajinder Rajinder Mohan Singh Cheena, Principal Mehal Singh and other members offered bouquet to the Czech Republic Delegation.

While speaking on the occasion Her Excellency, Dr Eliska Zigova said The Czech Republic offers high quality study programs as well as affordable living costs and enjoyable student life, all in one brilliant study abroad destination. Czech universities rank among the best in Central.

Dr Eliska Zigova offered a wide range of options, She appreciated the efforts of the Department of Higher Education, government of Punjab for uplifting the standards of higher education in Punjab by accreditation process , starting of new courses, digital push to higher education and various welfare measures for the benefits of the students. Mrs Amrit Singh IAS explained the scenario of higher education in Punjab to the Czech Republic delegation and various areas where both the parties can enter into Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) .

Mrs Amrit singh told the delegation that Department of Higher Education Punjab has established 16 New Government Colleges with state of art infrastructure in the rural areas and started 17 professional employment oriented courses to ensure employability to the students after passing out these courses. Mrs Amrit Singh told that Our Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar ranked highest in India A++ in NAAC Accreditation Panjab University Chandigarh (A++) and Punjabi University Patiala (A+) . More than 80% Government Colleges in the State of Punjab are NAAC Accredited.

The experience of Czech Republic in higher education can also be useful in various areas like students exchange, faculty development, curriculum design and quality improvement. The delegation visited the various departments of Khalsa college Amritsar along with the officials and expressed happiness over the rich cultural and educational heritage of the college. The department of Higher Education, Government of Punjab and Management of Khalsa college Amritsar presented traditional hand made Phulkaris and Coffee table books regarding the rich cultural heritage of Punjab and Khalsa college Amritsar compiled by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar and Khalsa College Amritsar.

Among other who were present on the occasion were Dr. Ashwani Bhalla, Deputy Director Higher Education, Dr Khushwinder Kumar, Principal Khalsa College of Education Amritsar and Major Guneet Chaudhary (Retd) Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Chandigarh
