A debate competition at Khalsa College Law

AMRITSAR: A debate competition on the Topic “Concerns Regarding the Safety of Women in India with Special reference to Women-Centric Laws” was organized by Oratory Club at Khalsa College of Law (KCL) under the supervision of Dr. Rashima Prabhakar and Dr. Anita Sharma. 16 teams participated in the competition Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Purnima Khanna, and Gurpreet Kaur were the judges in the competition.

Onkar Singh student of B.A.LL.B 3rd Sem, Shivangi Bhatia student of B.A.LL.B 5th Sem and Tanishka student of B.A.LL.B 7th Sem were judged as the best speakers. Tanishka and Medha Sharma of B.A.LL.B 7th Sem, Tania and Palak of B.A.LL.B 9th Sem and Shinepreet Kaur and Ravneet Kaur got 1st, 2nd and 3rd Positions respectively. Participants highlighted the various concerns regarding Women Safety despite of many women centric laws in force.

They emphasized on the need of having gender neutral Laws instead of gender centric and the need to strike a balance in the society. Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Director-cum-Principal and Dr. Gunisha Saluja, Principal (Officiating) appreciated the efforts put in by the students and encouraged them to participate more and more to shape up their overall personality. Dr. Divya Sharma, Dr. Renu Saini, Dr. Shivan Sarpal, Prof. Gurjinder Kaur, Prof. Sugam, Prof. Nitika, Prof. Mansirat Kaur and Ranjit Singh, Office Supdt. also graced the occasion.
