Power cuts in Haryana increase with the rise in temperature

CHANDIGARH: The start of the paddy season has not yet started in Haryana but people are facing power cuts of different durations in this hot summer season. The number of power cuts increases with a rise in temperature.

The daily scheduled and unscheduled power cuts in cities varies from one to three hours. Some cuts may be necessary for preventive maintenance but other forced outages can be avoided.

In smaller towns, the position is even worse. Practically most of the outages are not brought in the public knowledge.

The power demand in the state has exceeded 8000 MW with a  total supply of 1740 lakh units(LU). At present both units of
1200 MW Khedar thermal plant are running and generated 215 LU.

 The thermal units at Yamuna Nagar and Panipat are not operating.CLP Jhajjar is generating 156 LU from two units.Yesterday demand was 7900 MW with the supply of 1644 LU.The power demand will increase with the start of the paddy season in the next few days.
