Indian Ambassador Navtej Sarna to be honored in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS: Indian-American community organisations of Indianapolis are jointly organizing a function to honour newly appointed Indian Ambassador to United States Navtej Sarna, at Hilton Indianapolis Hotel and Suits here on Sunday (January 8) from 6 to 9.30 p.m.

An organising-cum-reception committeee, comprising Raju Chinthala. Sumeeta Bhatia, Dr Ajay Ponugoti, Chandra Krishnamaneni, Sravan Patharia, Ramu Chinthala, Dr Abhinav Singh, Bharath Gali, Naveen Cirigiri and Gurvinder Singh Khalsa has been formed.

The members are from Indiana India Business Council, Indianapolis Hyderabad Sister Committee, India Association of Indianapolis, Greater Indianapolis Telugu Association and Sikh Political Action Committee.

Raju Chinthala, Bharat Gali and Sumeeta Bhatia and other members, along with Indy Government Representative Diego Morales, recently met Mr Navtej Sarna at a function to bid farewell to Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Deputy Chief of the Mission of the Republic of India. The function was hosted by Ambassador Mr Navtej Sarna and Dr Avina Sarna at their mansion in Washington DC

Born in Jalandhar (Punjab, India) and educated in New Delhi, Navtej Sarna is a seasoned diplomat and has also penned fiction and non-fiction books . He is former spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) from 2002 to 2008. Navtej Sarna, 59, had served at various Indian missions which include Moscow, Warsaw, Tehran, Geneva, Thimphu and Washington.
