One Kg Gold seized at Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport Amritsar

AMRITSAR: The Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate, Amritsar has seized 1009 gms of Rhodium coated Gold wires concealed in suitcases at Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport.

Confirming the seizure  Commissioner Dipak Kumar Gupta said today that based on a specific input, on 08.11.2017, the officers of the, SGRDJI, Airport, Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate, Amritsar intercepted two passengers who arrived from Dubai via Delhi at SGRDJI, Airport, Amritsar by AI 16 were found to possess 1009 gms of Rhodium coated Gold wires concealed in their suitcases. The said gold in the form of wires weighing 1009gms, valued at  30,27,000/-lacs was seized under Section 110 of Customs Act, 1962.

In this case, father of one of the arrested persons appears to be a financer of this smuggling racket. He is a resident of Amritsar. Searches have been conducted at his residence. He is absconding and is not cooperating with the investigations. But our efforts are on to nab the culprits. During the raids conducted at his residence some incriminating documents/materials have been found. Further investigations are in progress, stated Dipak Kumar Gupta in an official release.
