Alert Sentry averts jail break in Phagwara

PHAGWARA: An Alert Sentry Jagwinder Singh of Phagwara Sub Jail  foiled a bid of three inmates to escape from the Jail at Phagwara—Banga Road late midnight last night.

Investigating Officer Sub Inspector Balwinder Singh Rai while confirming the incident told this correspondent here on Thursday evening that three inmates identified as Mohit of Palahai Gate Phagwara, Amardeep Singh of Village Pandori and Naresh Kumar of Village Thakraki entered in the Wash Room of the Jail around 11.45PM last night and started demolishing a wall by extracting few bricks, but the Sentry on duty raised alarm and successfully nabbed them.

Deputy Superintendent Jail Yashpal informed the city police. I.O Rai told that Gurpal Singh Ladyoia Jail Superintendent Hoshiarpur too rushed to Phagwara. The nabbed inmates who were facing few criminal cases have been arrested by the city police under new sections. Notable two inmates also escaped from Phagwara Sub Jail on December 7 in the year 2017 who were later nabbed after few months.
