Tearful adieu to senior journalist K.J.Singh and his mother

MOHALI: Senior journalist Mr. K.J. Singh and his mother Gurcharan Kaur, who were murdered at their Mohali residence on intervening night of 22nd and 23rd September by unidentified persons, were today cremated at the Mohali (Balongi) cremation ground in accordance with full religious rites. The postmortem was conducted today at Government Civil Hospital, Mohali. The funeral pyre was lit by the elder brother of Mr. K.J. Singh, Mr. Vijaypal Singh.

Earlier, on behalf of the Chief Minister, Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh, his Media Adviser Mr. Raveen Thukral laid wreath and paid homage to the departed souls. He said that the killers would not be spared and would soon be in the police net. He further said that the Chief Minister has already constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the double murder so as to nab the perpetrators as soon as possible. Condemning the tragic incident, he expressed deep sympathies with the bereaved family and called it a void never to be filled. He also assured every help to the bereaved family.

On the occasion, ex-Resident Editor of the Indian Express Mr. Vipin Pubby, ex-Editor of Daily Post Mr. Sarabjit Pandher, Editor Babushahi.com Mr. Baljit Balli and a vast number of members of media fraternity from Chandigarh and Mohali besides Councillor Mr. Kuljit Singh Bedi, family members of Mr. K.J. Singh and other dignitaries were also present.
