Punjab Police groping in dark for clues into murder of Mohali scribe KJ Singh

CHANDIGARH: The Special Investigation Team(SIT) formed by Punjab Police to probe the double murder of MohaLI Journalist KJ Singh and his mother committed on September 23. KJ Singh(63) was stabbed to death while his mother Gurcharan Kaur(92) was strangulated at their residence in Phase 3B2, Mohali.

The killers had taken away the Ford Ikon car of KJ Singh besides a LED TV. The killers however didn't touch the cash and gold. The Police has failed to get any clue of killers though it is working on two key theories, first the involvement of any family member for property and second love affairs of KJ Singh. The police has questioned a former woman collegaue of KJ Singh who was using sim card issued in the name of Singh.

The police has procured CCTV footage from many points but failed to trace the escape route of killers who may be three in number. The Police has also rounded up some suspects but it also failed to make any headway. Police suspects it to be contract killing but not sure of the motive. Shashi Prabha IG crime is heading the SIT formed on the orders of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

The brutal murder of KJ Singh can't be described political murder since KJ Singh was not an active journalist after his retirement from Times of India. He was working for some foreign websites. He was single and it is alleged that he had an affair with some girl. Police is looking into the affair angle, considering it could be revnege killing for cheating.

The will of Gurcharan Kaur found from the bank locker has stated that K J Singh and his brother Vijay Pal Singh will bequeth House No.1798 in Sector 60(3B2) in Mohali and other properties whereever located. Mother had given all house items to KJ Singh since he is yet to settle with family. The Police says that there was discussion in the family to change the will of Gurcharan Kaur. Police is doing insentive questioning of kin of deceased.
