Chandigarh Press Club starts community kitchen for needy persons

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Press Club has started a community kitchen for the needy from today, for the next two weeks.   The club has prepared dinner for 800 people on Tuesday and the menu was Veg-Baryani and aloo-nutri.

 The distribution of the food was done by the Chandigarh Administration and today’s distribution area was pockets surrounding Sector 11, khudda Ali Sher, and Sector 15.

 The club has tied up with Multi National Company Godfrey Phillips for the community kitchen and they will meet the expense of all the raw material, including cooking gas.

 Meanwhile, with the increase in Covid-19 cases Chandigarh has been categorised as Red Zone and the lockdown too has been extended till May 17. Viewing the situation  Chandigarh Press Club elections have been postponed till further orders.

"We will hold our next meeting on May 20 and decide accordingly, " according to Returning Officer Sanjiv Shukla..
