JALANDHAR: Lovely Professional University hosted 45th District Level Science Exhibition at its Campus. This exhibition-cum-competition was organized by the Department of Science, District Kapurthala (Punjab). More than 400 students and teachers from 60 schools of the district participated under 6 themes of the competition. During this research oriented science-fest 100+ models were exhibited by the innovative students of different schools.

The jury included 12 experts based on LPU scientists and senior school-teachers, who judged the science models on the basis of innovation, cost factor, common utility, presentation skills and more. Thinking out of the box and showcasing their hidden potential, students presented marvelous projects which were admired and boosted up with great suggestions from on-looker LPU students and faculty members. They admired school-students’ project “Smog Free Tower” the most as the most parts of India are facing the severe problem of smog now-a-days. This project will not only relieve all from the clutches of smog but also convert carbon particles present in the smog into sparkling diamonds, as the formation of diamonds is based on the chain of carbon particles only. LPU researchers encouraged school students that they would support such a project handlers in getting the project realized as a reality.
The team of students for Smog Free Tower from Government Sr Sec School (Boys) Kapurthala, headed by Sandeep Sood of 10+2 Non Medical stream, informed that this project will be helpful in large industrial, parking areas and parks. Here the densely polluted air will be cleaned through the usage of ‘ionic filters, suction process and vacuum creation’. It is estimated that an amount near to Rs 100 Crore would be spent on this seven meter high building type project. However, it will be able to generate an income of Rs 250 Crore as carbon particles thus collected will be converted into diamonds under a great condensation process. It will help improve the economic condition of the country, pollution will be no more, and unemployed will get jobs in coveted diamond industry. Students also shared that China is the only country in the world which is working hard on such projects.
LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal and Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal encouraged the young students for their innovative designs and research oriented projects. Both of them asked students to carry on with such dynamic projects in future as well for the goodness of the country. On this occasion District Education Officer Satpal Kaur Bajwa, District Science Supervisor, Dean Sorav Lakhanpal, Science Teacher Harjinder Gogna were also present. During honouring ceremony Shiksha Rattan State Awardee Science teacher Gurmeet Singh was presented with Life Time Achievement Award.
Various other notable projects displayed during this competition included Adventure Calendar, Li-Fi Wireless Power Transmission, Automatic Light System, Smart Bins, Swing Bridge, Hand Held Trans-planter, the best Usage of “Parali” and many more. On this occasion Science Quiz, Science Drama, Kishore Mela were also organized to make students live in science.
