AMRITSAR: Khalsa College, Amritsar (KCA) and Khalsa College for Women (KCW) jointly lifted the overall champion trophy in the two-day-long 9th Inter-Khalsa Colleges Youth Festival-2024 here today. The Khalsa College of Education, Ranjit Avenue bagged was declared first Runner up while Khalsa College of Education, G. T. Road bagged the position of Second Runner up in the festival.
Hundreds of students from all 13 Khalsa Colleges under Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) competed in various competitions. The Gidda, Bhangra, Jhoomer were the main attractions while the folk regional dances, fine arts, poetry, debates, singing, skit, mono acting, poster-making, extempore and paintings sought huge participation.
Khalsa University Pro-Chancellor and KCGC honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who was the chief guest at the valedictory function said the aim of the festival was to instill the sense of competition and draw out the hidden talent amongst the students. He along with KU, Deans Academics and Principal Dr. Surinder Kaur and others gave away the trophy and prizes to the winners.
Apart from the academics the students must excel in other fields also. This is part of the overall personality development.”, said Chhina adding that he was highly impressed with the various performances presented by the students. He asked those students who did not get an award to work harder next time.
Dr. Surinder Kaur earlier welcomed the guests and thanked all Principals and management for making the show a grand success.
KCGC joint secretary Paramjit Singh Bal, Lakhwinder Singh Dhillon, SS Sethi, Gurpreet Singh Gill, Member Bhupinder Singh Holland, Bikramjit Singh, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Dr. Jaspal Singh, Dr. Amanpreet Kaur, Nanak Singh, Dr. RK Dhawan, Dr. Kawaljit Singh, Dr. Manju Bala, Gurdev Singh staff and students were present during the festival.
