CHANDIGARH: Two farmers from Punjab were killed in a road accident on Saturday in Haryana's Hisar district while they were returning from the protest site at Tikri border, police said.

CHANDIGARH/NEW DELHI:Slamming the Aam Adami Party (AAP) for wrongly blaming the Punjab farmers for Delhi pollution, Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister, Gurkirat Singh, on Monday said that Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi Government has indulged in the blame game to save it's own skin as it has completely failed to control pollution in the national capital.

CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) and BJP, the ruling alliance partners in Punjab have taken farmers of the state for a ride on the issue of Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal in a bid to counter strong anti-incumbency against them. The both parties are ruling partners in center and BJP is in power in Haryana with which Punjab is on war path on sharing of river waters.

CHANDIGARH: The agitationg farmers of Punjab today withdrew from the rail tracks after seven day long blockade and now decided to lay seize of houses of ruling SAD and BJP leaders inlcuding Members of Parliament and MLAs from October 22 to press the Punjab government for their demand of adequate compensation for crop damage.

CHANDIGARH: The farmer organisations holding rail block agitation for the last four days to seek compensation for damaged cotton crop have extended their agitation for two days, till Monday (October 12). Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has cllaed the farmer bodies for talks on Monday at 4.30 PM.

CHANDIGARH: The farmers in Punjab are upset over BJP led NDA government's decision to give meagre hike of Rs.50 per per quintal for paddy. While Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) ruling allinace partner of BJP is evading to criticise center government for anti-farmer decision, the Congress party and Bhartiya Kisan Union (Mann) have rejected the hike and demanded implementation of Swaminathan report as per promsie made by Prime Minister Narender Modi.

CHANDIGARH:The nonseasonal rains in Punjab have played havoc with the crops and shattered all hopes of farmers. The crops in most part of the state have deferred up to 75 percent loss. Ironically, no help is coming from Government side. 

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Agriculture Minister Jathedar Tota Singh today assured the farming community of sufficient urea supply required for wheat crop as the state has already received 10 lac MTs of urea by December 13 as compared to 8.23 lac MT received till date during previous year.

CHANDIGARH: Lashing out at his Haryana counterpart for inflicting such brutality on Punjab’s farmers, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday demanded an unequivocal apology from ML Khattar, accusing him of spreading lies and sticking his nose into a matter in which his state had no role to play.

CHANDIGARH:Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday succeeded in breaking the imbroglio over the suspension of train services in the state, with the Kisan Unions acceding to his appeal and announcing complete lifting of the rail blockade from Monday, 23rd November, to pave the way for resumption of both goods and passenger train services in the state after two months.

CHANDIGARH: The Crop Diversification Programme initiated by the Punjab Agriculture Department has received a massive response from farmers with the state nearly accomplishing its goal to bring an area of 12.5 lakh acres under cotton cultivation, which was 9.7 lakh acres last year. Diversification of the cropping pattern away from paddy helps to save the precious natural resources of the state i.e. water, helps improve soil fertility, avoid winter stubble burning and thus preserve and improve the environment in a very substantial way.

CHANDIGARH:Criticising the Opposition for spreading lies, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh here on Wednesday said free power to farmers would continue till his government was in power.

CHANDIGARH: On the directives of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the Punjab government has decided to pay Rs 2,500 per acre as compensation to those small and marginal farmers, who have not burnt paddy straw.
