CHANDIGARH: The issue of construction of Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal to carry Haryana's share of water from Ravi and Beas rivers has become a rallying point for all major political leaders of state who are racing to grab power in Punjab. While ruling SAD and Congress have bounced back to old blame game, AAP taken the action to battle ground.

CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) and BJP, the ruling alliance partners in Punjab have taken farmers of the state for a ride on the issue of Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal in a bid to counter strong anti-incumbency against them. The both parties are ruling partners in center and BJP is in power in Haryana with which Punjab is on war path on sharing of river waters.

CHANDIGARH:Urging the central government to be cautious on the SYL issue, which had the potential to disturb the nation’s security, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday reiterated the need for a Tribunal to make a fresh time-bound assessment of the water availability, even as he sought complete share of water for his state from the total resource available, including from River Yamuna.
