DERA BASSI(MOHALI): Highlighting the success of the “Sehatmand Punjab” mission, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today stated that the state government is successfully fulfilling its guarantee of providing quality healthcare services to people, ensuring that no one in Punjab is deprived of medical treatment.
After laying the foundation stone for Sri Sukhmani Institute of Medical Sciences and Research today, the Chief Minister emphasized that healthcare is the backbone of any prosperous society, and the state government is leaving no stone unturned in strengthening it. He stated that a robust medical education system not only produces skilled doctors but also establishes a strong healthcare infrastructure to meet the needs of the people. The Chief Minister mentioned that the state government is setting up medical colleges across different districts, allowing students to pursue medical education within Punjab itself.
Discussing advancements in the healthcare sector, the Chief Minister pointed out that 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics have been established across Punjab, bringing about a revolution in the state’s healthcare system.
Referring to the new medical college in Dera Bassi, he noted that this will be the second medical college in Mohali district, with the first being Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences in Mohali. Underlining the significance of medical colleges, Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that laying the foundation stone is not just about constructing a building, but about achieving another milestone towards a ‘Sehatmand Punjab’. The establishment of this institution will provide quality healthcare services to the local population while also increasing MBBS seats for students to pursue medical education.
During the event, the Chief Minister also extended his best wishes to students participating in LAMHA-2025, a program organized by Sri Sukhmani Institute featuring various competitions. He emphasized that youth festivals play a crucial role in the overall personality development of young individuals. He shared that his own participation in such festivals helped him succeed both as an artist and now as a politician. He encouraged students to make the most of these platforms for their personal growth.
Reminiscing about his college days, the Chief Minister recalled how he actively participated in various youth festivals and won trophies for his college. He said, “Winning has always been my passion, and I have always maintained a positive mindset to achieve victory.” He advised students to avoid negative influences and stay focused on their goals while working hard, as dedication and perseverance are the keys to success.
Comparing runways at airports that facilitate a smooth takeoff for airplanes, Mann remarked that the state government is similarly creating opportunities for youth to realize their dreams. He reaffirmed that every possible effort is being made to empower young minds, leaving no stone unturned in this endeavor.
The Chief Minister urged young individuals to establish a unique identity in society and to remain humble despite their achievements. He emphasized that self-confidence and a positive approach should be fundamental qualities in every individual’s personality, but without arrogance. Concluding his address, Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that this mindset is the key to scripting success in any field, and it must be implemented in the right spirit.
