Senior SAD Leader Gurpreet Raju Khanna & YAD Prez Sarabjit Singh Jhinjer Meet Injured Farmers at Patiala's Rajindra Hospital
PATIALA: Shiromani Akali Dal today extended its support to farmers who were brutally beaten by Aam Aadmi Party goons in Halka Ghanaur for opposing the theft of trolleys belonging to other farmers participating in the Khanauri Morcha. Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna and Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjit Singh Jhinjer visited the injured farmers at Patiala's Rajindra Hospital and expressed their solidarity with them.
Speaking to the media after meeting the injured farmers, YAD President Sarabjit Singh Jhinjer stated, "Yesterday, three farmers from Village Khandoli—Jatinder Singh, Ajit Singh, and Sukhmandeep Singh—discovered that Aam Aadmi Party Sarpanch Dimple and his goons had stolen six trolleys from the Khanauri Morcha. When they confronted the AAP leaders about this shameful act and informed the Farmers' Union, the Sarpanch, backed by Ghanaur MLA Gurlal Singh, brought 12-15 goons and mercilessly attacked them for exposing the truth. They even tore the 'Kes' (hair) and beard of these Gursikh farmers, causing grievous physical and psychological injuries."
He further added, "After learning about this incident, I, along with Raju Khanna ji and other party workers, came here today to check on our injured farmers and ensure they get justice. What is even more appalling is that, instead of delivering justice, the police—acting on the orders of MLA Gurlal Ghanaur—are trying to file false cases against the victims to harass them. Let me make it clear: I and the entire Shiromani Akali Dal stand firmly with these farmers, and we will not allow any injustice against them."
Jhinjer also criticized Patiala Police, stating, "First, they brought shame to the force by beating a serving Army Colonel and then attempting to cover it up. Now, under pressure from the AAP MLA, they are trying to suppress this case too. But we will not let that happen! If needed, we will organize protests and open a front to ensure these farmers get justice."
Taking on the Aam Aadmi Party, Jhinjer remarked, "First, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann backstabbed farmers by calling them for a meeting and then having them arrested. Now, his MLAs and party workers are disgracing our villages by stealing trolleys and other valuables belonging to farmers at the Khanauri Morcha. I had earlier warned that MLA Gurlal Ghanaur had instructed AAP Sarpanches in Ghanaur to send men to destabilize the Khanauri Morcha and seize these trolleys. This is yet another betrayal of Punjab's farmers!"
They were also accompanied by Youth Akali Dal District Patiala Urban President Karanvir Singh Sahni and Patiala Rural President Amarpreet Singh Lang.
