CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today clarified that it did not have any intention to bring any leader from any other party into the SAD in Giddarbaha with the intention to field him as a candidate in the forthcoming by-election from the seat.

Disclosing this here, party spokesperson Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said all such speculations were false and baseless. He also clarified that the party had not discussed any such move with anybody.

Dr Cheema also made it clear that the SAD fully depended on, trusted and supported S Hardeep Singh Dhillon for the forthcoming bye election. He also urged Mr Dhillon not to be misled by propaganda being unleashed by forces inimical to the SAD.

The SAD leader said party President S Sukhbir S Badal had openly advocated in party meetings that Dimpi Dhillon was the best candidate for the party from Gidderbaha. “He even discussed about this in detail with party’s newly constituted Parliamentary Board”.

Dr Cheema said the SAD President had been constantly campaigning in Giddarbaha as per the programs planned by Dimpi Dhillon. He said the official announced on Mr Dhillon’s candidature could not be made as the party’s Parliamentary Board was still in the process of collecting feedback from party workers for fielding candidates from all four constituencies to which bye elections were being held. “Mr Dhillon should not have read any ulterior motive in this exercise”.

The leader said the SAD strongly appealed to Mr Dhillon that he should not be misled by any fake rumours. “The entire party including the party President is with him and expects him to honour the sentiments of the party workers”.
