CHANDIGARH: "No shortage of grants will be allowed for the development of villages in district Tarn Taran and holistic development will be ensured without any discrimination", uttered Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar while addressing the district-level ceremony held at Police Line Ground, Tarn Taran, where he administered the oath to 3, 882 newly elected Panches from 568 Panchayats of the district.
In his address, S. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that Panchayats are the foundation of our democracy and their efficiency is crucial for the holistic development of any state.
While congratulating the newly-elected Panches from various Panchayats of the district, S. Laljit Singh Bhullar urged them to work diligently and without any discrimination for their villages' development and strengthen community bonds.
S. Bhullar said that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led government would ensure no shortage of funds for development works in Panchayats. Congratulating the newly-elected Panches and Sarpanches, he stressed that they should play a pivotal role in village development and since people have placed their trust in them, it's their utmost responsibility to maintain that trust.
He categorically congratulated women Panches and Sarpanches, encouraging them to actively participate in Panchayats activities.
Earlier, S. Sarvan Singh Dhun, MLA Khemkaran welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and extended best wishes to the Panches and Sarpanches. He said that Panchayats should play a vital role in realizing Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann's vision for Punjab's rural development.
On this occasion, Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal, MLA Tarn Taran congratulated the newly elected Panches and Sarpanches, saying that they must fulfill the oath taken during today's swearing-in ceremony by dedicating themselves to serving the village residents and accelerating rural development initiatives.
Speaking at the event, S. Manjinder Singh Lalpura, MLA Khadoor Sahib said, from today Panchayats would officially commence their administrative duties, assuring that there would be no shortage of government grants. He urged the Panchayats to utilize these grants diligently to ensure holistic development of the villages.
On the occasion of World Toilet Day, Cabinet Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar also handed over the approval letters for financial assistance to be provided to eligible beneficiaries of the district for construction of individual toilets.
