Nakodar resident arrested for outraging woman’s modesty.

PHAGWARA: The Nakodar city police have arrested a resident on the charges of outraging a woman’s modesty and voluntarily causing hurt.
Investigating Officer (IO) Dilbag Singh said that the accused has been identified as Atama Ram alias Sodhi a resident of Mohalla Guru Nanak Pura.
The victim a resident of the same locality had complained to the police that the accused assaulted and used filthy language against her and tore her clothes.
IO said that a case under sections 323(voluntarily causing hurt) 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code and section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered against the accused in July 2022.(EOM)

Two proclaimed offenders arrested.
PHAGWARA: The Nakodar City police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) absconding for the last two months.
Investigating Officer Rajindar Pal Singh said the accused has been identified as Sunni alias Mannak a resident of Aallo Wal village and wanted in a case of culpable homicide registered in 2019 and was declared PO in October 2024.
Meanwhile The Shahkot police have also arrested PO Lakhvir Singh a resident of Ram Pur village and wanted in a case of selling illicit liquor, said IO Sarwann Singh .(EOM)

Drug peddler arrested under NDPS Act
PHAGWARA: The Nakodar City police have arrested a drug peddler on the charge of selling intoxicant tablets.
Investigating officer (IO) Dilbag Singh said that 80 intoxicant tablets(loose) were recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Deval Malik alias Mantu a resident of Mohalla Gauns, Nakodar.
IO said a case under section 22-B/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused.

Shahkot villager arrested for causing death by negligence.
PHAGWARA: The Nakodar City police have arrested a Shahkot villager driver on charges of causing death by negligence, rash driving, and mischief.
Investigating Officer (IO) Rajindar Pal Singh said the accused had been identified as Gursharan Deep Singh alias Garri a resident of Dhando Wal village under Shahkot police station.
Satnam Singh a resident of Maherru village complained to the police that he was going to Tutsher Singh village on his scooter. His nephew Sukhraj Singh was riding a pillion and stopped near Pandori Khas village to urinate. His nephew was waiting on the side when the accused driving his vehicle fast negligently hit Sukhraj Singh and killed him and damaged the two-wheeler.
The Investigating Officer said that a case under sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 281(rash driving on a public road), 125 (A), 125(B) (causing grievous hurt), and 324(4) (mischief) of the BNS has been registered against the accused.(EOM)
