AMRITSAR: With renewed hope of resurrection and eternal life reigning supreme in their hearts, the Christian community of Amritsar, came together under the aegis of the Diocese of Amritsar (DoA), Church of North India (CNI) to celebrate Easter, commemorating the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ, after His death on the Cross on Good Friday. The festivities were marked with prayers for universal peace and harmony.
The Right Reverend Manoj Charan, Bishop of the Diocese of Amritsar, CNI, reflected on the significance of Easter, saying, “The resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ is a testament to the power of love and faith. Through His sacrifice, He offers forgiveness of sins to all who believe, promising resurrection and eternal life.”
“As the Apostle Paul wrote, 'But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain' (1 Corinthians 15:13-14). Yet, because He has risen, we have hope of eternal life, ” he added. Bishop Charan emphasized the importance of prayers for those in authority, seeking wisdom and discretion for leaders to promote peace and harmony in society.
The celebrations included dawn, sunrise, and morning services at various churches in Amritsar, including Christ Church Cathedral, St Paul's Church, and Epiphany Church. The Easter celebrations served as a reminder of the enduring message of love, hope, and peace that Jesus Christ embodies. May this spirit guide us all.
