Jalandhar rural police arrest 11 accused in viral clash video case

PHAGWARA: In a swift action against public disorder, Jalandhar Rural Police has successfully arrested eleven accused involved in a violent clash that went viral on social media. The video, widely circulated across various platforms, showed individuals engaging in a fight with deadly weapons near the Jalandhar Bypass railway line in Phillaur. The police have also recovered a country-made pistol, a live cartridge, a spent cartridge, and sharp-edged weapons used in the incident.

The arrested accused have been identified as Pawan Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar; Gurmukh Ram, son of Dev Raj; Bunty, son of Amarjit; Simranjit alias Simma; Ajay, son of Sukhrib; Raj Kumar, son of Barma Sahni; Sandeep Gupta, son of Lal Babu; Ankus, son of Ram Krishna; Anli alias Golu, son of Brahma; Anarjit alias Kanwa, son of Brahma; and Vijay, son of Sugriv. All are residents of Phillaur. Several other unidentified individuals involved in the clash are currently being traced.

Divulging details to the press media, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, said that the incident had caused public panic and unrest. Immediate action was taken under strict surveillance, and a case was registered at Police Station Phillaur under Sections 194(2), 191(3), 190, 115(2), 126(2), 118(1), 109-BNS, and 25-54-59 of the Arms Act.

SSP Khakh further elaborated that the operation was executed under the supervision of SP Investigation Jasroop Kaur Bath, IPS, and DSP Phillaur Sarwan Singh Bal. The team, led by Inspector Sanjiv Kapur, SHO Phillaur, acted swiftly to arrest the accused before the situation could escalate further.

The arrested individuals have been presented before the honourable court, and police remand has been obtained for further interrogation.

The police team have recovered a country-made pistol, a live cartridge, empty cartridge, and sharp-edged weapons, including sharp edged weapons and sticks.

Further Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused and ascertain the motive behind the clash.
