Indian deprtees from USA arrived in shackels again, 65 are from Punjab

Third flight of deportees with to reach Amritsar today
AMRITSAR: The 117 Indian deportees brought in US army plane which reached here late last night, were in shackels. They were also handcuffed during the 40 hour long flight.

There was uproar against US government and Indian government when on Febreuary 5 first flight of deportees shackled arrived fin Amritsar. It was expected that Indian Prime Minister Narender Modi who was in USA to meet president Donald Trump would take up the issue of deportees and Indians were given humane treatment. However, PM reported to have not discussed the issue with US president.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann who recieved the deportees at Guru Ram Dass airport Amritsar lodged a strong protest against inhuman treatment to deportees. He also opposed Indian Government decision of allowing US flights to land in Amritsar. He asked centger government not to promote Amritsar and detention city. He demanded to divert such flights to Delhi or other airports.

In today's flights 65 are from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, eight from Gujarat, three from Utar Pardesh, two each from Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Goa and one each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
