CHANDIGARH: Prominent farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal was today arrested by Punjab Police to prevent him from starting his fast unto death to press for the demands of the farmers including MSP guarantee on crops.
According to spurces, Dallewal was picked from Khanauri border morcha. It is alleged that he was taken away by team of police officials from Punjab and Haryana. He has been taken to Ludhiana, the reports said.
Dallewal had announced to start fast unto death from today and he had declared he would starve to death if farmer's demands are not accepted. The farmers are holding dharna on Khanauri and Shambu border for over a year now.
The eyewitnesses said that police force in large strength at 3.45 AM, according to farmer leader, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) General Secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher. He condemned the arrest of Dallewal nd appealed to farmers to reach at Ludhiana DMC hospital where Dallewal has been admitted.
