As a social worker, he has given a new direction to society by raising his voice against the prevailing evils. He boycotted foreign goods and inspired all the countrymen to adopt Swadeshi and created a popular wave for it. He said that when the British government committed a massacre in Jallianwala Bagh, Lala ji reached Mumbai and took part in the non-cooperation movement along with Mahatma Gandhi. Lala ji, who was badly injured in the lathicharge of the police while protesting against the Simon Commission, was martyred on 17 November 1928. He appealed to the students to follow the path shown by Lala ji and contribute significantly to the progress of their country, so that Lala ji's dreams of a bright India can be realised.
