Digital Media Association condemn detention of media persons from Punjab by Delhi police

CHANDIGARH: The Digital Media Association Punjab today strongly condemned the illegal detention of a group of media persons from Punjab by Delhi police yesterday.

Devinderjit Singh Darshi President of Digital Media Association along with Chief patron Baljit Balli, Chairman Satinder Bains and other office bearers said that media persons from Punjab had gone to Delhi to cover assembly elections. The Delhi police reportedly detained the journalists in police station for over nine hours and questioned them for covering elections in the national capital.

The Association said that it was the right of journalists to cover the elections irrespective of their city of origin. The association has requested the Election Commission of India and Press Council of India to take notice of the incident and take appropriate action against the guilty policemen.

The other members of association who joined in condemnation are Parminder Singh Jattpuri, Davinder Singh Kohli, H.S.Bawa and Naresh Sharma.
