AMRITSAR: Giani Harpreet Singh Jathedar Takht Damdama Sahib has said that the decision of Baba Harnam Singh, head of Damdami Taksal, to give unconditional support to the Bharatiya Janata Party and its alliance in the Maharashtra elections is unwarranted.
Talking to media persons here today, Jathedar said that the Akali Dal also gave unconditional support to the Bharatiya Janata Party for 25 years, which only caused loss to Punjab and the Panth. It would have been a good thing if Baba Harnam Singh accepted the demands of the Panth and released the captive Singhs. The issues related to Panth and Punjab would have been resolved and then they would have supported the Bharatiya Janata Party, but supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party without resolving any issue in this way cannot be said to be correct in any way.
He said that Baba Harnam Singh forgot that the central government had also issued an ordinance to release Bandi Singh on the occasion of the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak Sahib. The central government refused to accept its own ordinance. Today, if Baba Harnam Singh feels that the central government is serious about solving the issues of the panth, then he would have solved the issues of the panth in Punjab first.
