CHANDIGARH: Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa has informed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has released an amount of more than Rs. 186 crore to compensate the crop loss of the farmers of the affected districts due to floods. He said that advance funds have been released to the Deputy Commissioners of 16 districts of the state from the Natural Disaster Relief Fund to provide relief for the crop damage.
Jimpa said that in the months of July and August, the crops of farmers were damaged due to floods in many areas and a Special Girdawari has been conducted in all the flood affected areas of the state. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann fulfilled his promise to the flood victims on August 15 and initiated the process to hand over cheques of compensation.
He further said that the Punjab Government is committed to provide compensation to the flood victims and has no dearth of funds for this purpose. Jimpa said that no stone will be left unturned to provide relief to the farmers and other affected people.
The Disaster Management Minister informed that Rs. 26 crore 8 lakh 34, 400 has been given to Sangrur district, Rs. 22 crore 44 lakh to Ferozepur district, Rs. 26 crore 52 lakh to Taran Taran, Rs. 59 crore 50 lakh to Patiala and Rs. 12 crore 92 lakh have been released to Mansa as relief for crop loss due to floods.
Similarly, Rs. 3 crore 73 lakh 18, 400 to Amritsar district, Rs. 8 crore 77 lakh 6, 400 to Fazilka, Rs. 5 crore 84 lakh 80 thousand to Gurdaspur, Rs. 2 crore 31 lakh 26, 800 to Jalandhar, Rs. 2 crore 31 lakh 26, 800 to Ludhiana, Rs. 3 crore 99 lakh 77, 200 to Moga, Rs. 18 lakh 45, 520 to Rupnagar, Rs. 64 lakh 60 thousand to Pathankot, Rs. 1 crore 25 lakh 52, 800 to SBS Nagar, Rs. 1 crore 59 lakh 98, 700 to Fatehgarh Sahib and an amount of Rs. 1 crore 73 lakh 40 thousand has been given to S.A.S. Nagar district.
Jimpa said that total amount is Rs. 186 crore 12 lakh 63, 020. He said that the Chief Minister himself has been visiting the flood-affected areas to know the ground situation and now all efforts are being made to help the people of the affected districts. The Chief Minister has already announced that every loss of crop, cattle, house or anything has been covered in the special girdawari to fully compensate the people for this loss. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has also assured the people that his government will compensate the people for loss of every single penny incurred by them during the floods.
