If resignation accepted, all Sikh high priests will submit resignations, says Giani Raghbir Singh
AMRITSAR: Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh today expressed serious concern over resignation by Giani Harpreet Singh Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo and directed the SGPC not to accept the resignation of Jathedar.
Giani Raghbir Singh in a video message said that he was shocked to hear about the resignation of Giani Harpreet Singh. He said that SAD leader Virsa Singh Valtoha was using threats to Giani Harpreet Singh an he even threatened him. He said that certain Akali leaders were targeting the children and families of Jathedar's on social media. He said that such unfortunate events never happened in the Sikh Panth.
Giani Raghbir Singh said that if SGPC accepts resignation of Giani Harpreet Singh he and other Sikh Jathdars would also submit their resignations. He also appealed to Giani Harpreet Singh to reconsider his decision.
It is recalled that Shiromani Akali Dal had started a vilification campaign against the five high priests to keep them under pressure so that no harsh action is taken against SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal who is declared Tankhahia by the Akal Takht. Akali leader Virsa Singh Valtoha had blamed that Sikh high priests were working under pressure from RSS and BJP and conspiring to expel Badal from Akali Dal.
