AMRITSAR: Giani Raghbir Singh Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has ordered the Sikh community in view of the completion of 40 years of the Sikh Genocide of November 1, 1984 that on the occasion of Bandi chhod Divas on November 1, only ghee should be consumed in the memory of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. Lamps should be lit only and electrical decorations not to be done.
Giani Raghbir Singh said that this time on the occasion of Bandi chhod Divas, electrical decorations will be done only at Sri Har mandir Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Apart from this, while celebrating Bandi chhod Day in the holy memory of the sixth Patshah Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, the Sikh Sangat living all over the world should light only ghee lamps in the Gurudwaras and houses and not make any kind of electrical decorations.
In a written statement issued by the Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat, Giani Raghbir Singh said that on November 1, 1984, the Sikhs were brutalized under the auspices of the Congress government in 110 cities of different states, including the capital of the country, Delhi. was massacred, which was Sikh genocide.
He said that 1 November 2024 is going to be 40 years of Sikh genocide.
He said that during the last 40 years, the struggle that the Sikhs have undertaken to re-establish their national narrative after recovering from the multifaceted effects of their genocide under the auspices of the Indian government, is also incredible and unprecedented.
He said that November '84 is such a tragedy that will remain fresh in the Sikh psyche for the rest of the world.
The Jathedar Akak Takht said that November 1 is also Bandi chhod Day in memory of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji's release from Gwalior fort and his arrival in Sri Amritsar Sahib.
