In view of the low arrival of DAP fertilizer in the district, Chief Agriculture Officer Amritsar appealed to the farmers to plant the crop on time by using other phosphatic fertilizers available in the market for sowing wheat. He said that at present, apart from DAP, triple super phosphate 46% fertilizer is being supplied for sowing wheat. Efforts are being made by the department to meet the shortage of phosphorus fertilizer in the district by continuously coordinating with the fertilizer supplier companies.
He said that 18% nitrogen and 46% phosphorus content is obtained from DAP. As an alternative, straight phosphatic fertilizers and NPK complex fertilizers are available in the market. Among them is mainly triple super phosphate fertilizer which has 46% phosphorus content. If Triple Super Phosphate 46% fertilizer is to be used, then 20 kg of urea fertilizer per acre can be applied at the time of sowing , which can supply nitrogen and phosphorus content in equal amount of DAP fertilizer. Or 20 kg urea fertilizer and 155 kg single super phosphate 16% ( phosphorus) fertilizer per acre at the time of sowing can be used to supplement nitrogen and phosphorus content in wheat crop.
In addition, ANPK fertilizers containing nitrogen , phosphorus , and potash elements such as ANPK 16-16-16, ANPK 15-15-15, ANPK 12 -32-16, 10-26-26 and Urea Ammonium Phosphate 24-24-0, Ammonium Phosphate Sulphate 20-20-0-13 can also be used.
