34th World Punjabi Conference concluded with the pledge to raise the flag of Punjabi mother tongue

LAHORE: The three-day ongoing 34th World Punjabi Conference has concluded here today with the promise of raising the flag of Punjabi mother tongue and making sincere efforts for its promotion and expansionChief organizer of the conference and former minister Fakhr Zaman honored all the members of the delegation with medals and certificates during the closing session.

Fakhar Zaman, sitting in the presiding committee, remembered Dr. Deepak Manmohan Singh, Sahijpreet Singh Mangat and Gurbhajan Singh Gill who made efforts to make the series of conferences successful for forty years. He also talked about doing it continuously.

The conference is acting as a bridge through which all Punjabis come together to raise the flag of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat.

Dr. Surinder Singh Sangha, while reading the evaluation paper about the three-day conference during the closing session, said that during this conference held on the subject of Sufism, the message of mutual understanding and partnership between the two Punjabs was given. During the various sessions held including literary, cultural, consultation and book release, it was said to continue all-out efforts to carry forward the commitment taken.

During the cultural and musical program held at Al Hamra Center on the occasion of the closing ceremony, a half-hour drama by Anita Sabdish called 'Gumshuda Utari' called for the empowerment of women. During the musical program, the top artistes of both Punjabs Akram Rahi, Pammi Bai, Dolly Guleria, Sukhi Brar, Arif Lohar, Imran Shaukat Ali and Satnam tied the time with their respective performances. The whole hall was buzzing on the songs of Pammi Bai.

In the concluding session of the conference, the Gurmukhi edition of Shaira Bushra Ejaj's book "Main Puni Katti Raat Di" of Lahinde Punjab was also released.
