CHANDIGARH: Under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority and able guidance of the Hon'ble Mr. Justice Sheel Nagu, the Chief Justice-cum-Patron-in-Chief, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sureshwar Thakur, Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, the National Lok Adalat was organized on Saturday in District Court Complex, Sector-43, Chandigarh by State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh and District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh.
Thirteen benches headed by the serving Judicial Officers were constituted in the District Courts, Sector-43, Chandigarh. Criminal Compoundable cases, cases under Section 138 of N.I.Act, Bank Recovery cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour Disputes, Arbitration matters, other Civil Cases, Municipal Matters and Traffic Challans were taken up and disposed off with the consent of the parties.
In today's National Lok Adalat total 2182 were disposed of by the benches of serving Judicial Officers constituted in New District Courts Complex, Sector 43, Chandigarh which include 4 Criminal Compoundable cases, 1733 cases under Section 138 of N.I. Act involving an amount of Rs1, 44, 40, 450/-, 47 Motor Accident Claim cases involving an amount of Rs.7, 29, 43, 000/-, 39 Matrimonial/Family Disputes, 100 Civil Suits and Rent Cases involving an amount of Rs.38, 29, 487/-, 113 Executions involving an amount of Rs.38, 24, 938/-, 08 Civil Misc., 14 Criminal Misc involving amount of Rs.5, 000/-, 3
Arbitration cases, 01 Civil/Rent Appeal, 35 cases of 125 Cr.P.C., 16 cases of D.V. Act, 16 Untrace cases, 13 Criminal Appeals and 40 cases of ROC/Shop Act involving amount of Rs.10, 800/- were disposed of. 9596 Traffic Challans were also disposed of by imposing a fine of Rs.47, 82, 300/-.
In addition to above, 169 pre-litigative cases involving an amount of Rs.14, 18, 182/- were disposed of by the Permanent Lok Adalat (PUS), 07 Labour Dispute Cases involving an amount of Rs.6, 90, 338/- were disposed of by the Labour Court, 42 were disposed of by State & District Consumer Commissions, Chandigarh and 233 cases were disposed of by DRT-III, Chandigarh.
