AMRITSAR:  Reaching out to its Catholic brothers and sisters worldwide, the Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India, under the aegis of its Bishop, The Right Reverend Manoj Charan, extended heartfelt condolences to the global Catholic community upon the passing of Pope Francis. In a missive to the Roman Catholic Church, Bishop Manoj Charan described Pope Francis, who inspired countless individuals worldwide, as a beacon of hope, compassion, and unity.

“It is with deep sorrow that I extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of the beloved Pope. His life was a blessing to all who encountered him, and his presence brought warmth, wisdom, and love to the Church and the global community, ” the Bishop wrote.

“I had the extraordinary honour of meeting him in person — a moment that was not merely a meeting, but a spiritual encounter. His eyes reflected compassion, his smile radiated warmth, and his words carried the peace and love of Christ. He was not only the spiritual leader of the Roman Catholic Church but a true shepherd to all humanity, ” Bishop Manoj Charan said.

“He built bridges, not walls. His life was a powerful testimony of humility, mercy, and justice. Through his unwavering care for the poor, the outcast, and creation, he became a beacon of Christ’s love in a fractured world, ” he added.

“In this time of grief, may the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ comfort you. May you find strength in the cherished memories you shared with him and in the assurance that he now rests in the eternal presence of God. Please know that my prayers are with you and your community. May the Holy Spirit be your source of comfort and hope, ” added Bishop Manoj Charan.

The Diocese also remembered Pope Francis’ enduring dedication to social justice, interfaith dialogue, and mercy, stating that his contributions to these causes will always be remembered. “May his legacy continue to guide us toward love, peace, and deeper understanding, ” Bishop Charan further stated. The Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India, stands in prayerful solidarity with our Catholic brothers and sisters during this time of mourning.
