AMRITSAR: The 554th birth anniversary of first Guru Sri Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated with great enthusiasm here on Monday and thousand of devotees took a holy dip in the sacred sarovar of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib.
The jaloo (an exhibition of ancient traditional Sikh jewellery) at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Akal Takht and Gurdwara Baba Atal Sahib.
A religious Diwan (congregation) was held at Gurdwara Manji Sahib in which several raagi daadi and preachers recited the gurbani kirtan and thrown the light of teaching of Guru Nanak Dev .
The entire Golden Temple complex was decorated with colourful lights and fireworks was organized after the bhog of rehraas sahib path in the evening.
Giani Raghbir Singh Jathedar Akal Takht has congratulated the Sikhs for birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
He said that we should follow the teaching of the Guru about respect of women. Guru ji says "so kyon mandha aakhiye jit James rajaan "
Meanwhile birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev was also celebrated at Tarn Taran, Patti, Goindwal Sahib and other parts of district.
A nagar kirtan procession was also organised at Tarn Taran.
